Tiato Santa Monica Wedding Photographer – Tricia & Malcolm5:20 PM
One day, four distinct spaces. Spanning a boutique LA hotel, a Catholic church, a European bistro, and an impeccably decored outdoor reception space. The day had it’s start at LA’s iconic hotel Angeleno (a space I’ve personally wanted to visit for the longest time). And since they got married at the very same church as the bride’s parents, we thought it’d be fun to pay homage to mom and dad’s photo taken many years ago and present them together! A family-only reception took place at Chablis right after their ceremony and we spent the rest of day hanging out at Tiato in Santa Monica for the party. Tricia and Malcolm’s excellent taste in decor was brought to life by the talented Mandy Clough through a careful arrangement of diverse succulents, craft mason jars, and personal signage spread atop reclaimed rustic woodwork.
I shot most of evening reception without flash in order to preserve the ambiance of the lit candles, vintage bulbs, and the light-play between the wood-glass-metal elements. Although tricky at times, shooting in dim spaces is incredibly rewarding as it forces me to focus manually while carefully considering how to use the light from the space. Thanks Tricia and Malcolm for being amazing and for bringing me on board to do my thing. =)
