oh you know, just experimenting and stuff – SimplyTwo Labs

SimplyTwo Photography’s latest research and development effort focuses on the out-of-focus…or to put it plainly: background-blurring like a boss.

Q: Background blur is pretty cool in general but is it possible to push the idea even further?

A: Yes. It is theoretically possible to control and shape the light entering a camera lens. Inspired by this idea, SimplyTwo has developed a method to consistently and precisely render almost any shape in the defocused regions of a photograph.

Still in its early stages, more testing needs to be done before applying this method in the field; stay tuned.

Bokeh: In camera-speak, ‘bokeh’ is the blur or the aesthetic quality of the blur in out-of-focus areas of an image, or "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light." via wikipedia
