Bay Area Wedding Photographer – Michelle and Paul - Part 1 of 2

11:44 AM

Details details! - One of the coolest parts about being a wedding photographer is photographing all the sweet details that sum together in making the bride n groom’s day as unique as it is.

Today we’re looking at Michelle and Paul’s detail first and then attending their ceremony right after! I’m saving the creative shots for the next post. I know many of you have been itching to see those for quite some time so just check back in a few days or better yet subscribe. =)

Let’s shoot up them dresses, flowers, shoes, n stuffs!

(Above) It’s always a sweet challenge to shoot the dress in a way that is fun, creative, and timeless. The wedding gown is an incredibly calculated decision on the part of my bride so naturally, I tend to focus on the things that make this dress unique, shoot it up, and not drop/dirty it in the process (If I do I just don't tell anyone or I’ll blame it on one of the groomsmen…i know i know, bad bad photographer…)

Since it was way early in the morning when the prep shots started and Paul was nowhere around, I snuck the dress into the sanctuary where the ceremony would be held in a few hours. This setup served 2 purposes:

1. We needed to steam the dress. Who would have known that storing it in a dress bag for many weeks and shuttling it around in the back of someone's car would somehow fail to keep the dress perfect. (Write this down if you are going to be a bride soon)

2. The colors from the skiylight and lamps pour gallons and gallons of yummy color into these images which makes for cool pix!

(Above) You can actually SEE the steam helping the dress work its way towards unwrinkled-smoothie glory! (Get a steamer here)

(Above) I love how the lines all converge to the same point in the two images above. The cross, curtain contours, candles, and dress all seem to flow together.

(Above) I’m a guy. I don't wear heels but these twins look pretty darn comfy. The straps are stretchy!

(Above) Good thing no one was around yell at me, the bottom right shot was taken atop the grand piano.

(Above) Colorful walls, colorful flowers. Let’s put them together.

(Above) Michelle will be spending the entire day in this dress, therefore tightness and fitment need to basically be perfect. =)

So… I’m finally gearing up the SimplyTwo Photography Blog to share all of the recent wedding’s I was lucky enough to be commissioned for (I know…its been forever since my last wedding post and I’m sorry. I’m slow at processing) Since wedding’s are a pretty big deal and have TONS of cool stuff going on in them, I will be splitting up each wedding across a couple of posts so I can go more in-depth and share all of my random wedding insights with you.

If you are a bride to be: I’ll try to note and point out stuff I see that might be of help to you when you get hitched. In case you’re wondering, this is free.

If you are a photographer: I’ll try to explain a bit of how I’m seeing and approaching each wedding shoot. I encourage you to steal my ideas. Your brides and grooms deserve it. =)

If you just plain like wedding pix: Thanks for visiting, I love you.
